When you think “summer wedding,” you might picture lush gardens, golden sunlight, and a sea of save-the-dates flooding mailboxes across the country. And in many places (especially up north) summer is peak wedding season. But here in Florida? Not so much.

In the Sunshine State, we like to flip the script. Our busy wedding season tends to fall between October and April, when the air is cooler, the skies are clearer, and the risk of frizzy hair and sweat stains is (blessedly) lower.

Why Isn’t Summer Our Wedding Prime Time?

Let’s be real—Florida summers are not for the faint of heart. The heat? Intense. The humidity? Relentless. Afternoon thunderstorms? Practically scheduled. Add in the occasional tropical system and a swarm of mosquitoes, and it’s easy to see why many couples choose to avoid planning their big day during July and August.

But that doesn’t mean summer weddings are off the table. In fact, there are some pretty great perks to getting married during Florida’s so-called off-season.

The Perks of a Florida Summer Wedding

1. Vendor Availability:
Since it’s a slower time of year, your dream venue, photographer, or officiant (hi, that’s me!) might be more likely to have your date open, and may even offer off-season rates or specials.

2. More Personal Attention:
With fewer weddings on the calendar, your vendor team has more time and energy to focus on you. That means quicker responses, more flexibility, and extra room for creativity.

3. Intimate Celebrations Shine:
Summer can be perfect for small, meaningful ceremonies—like indoor elopements, early morning beach weddings, or magical vow exchanges inside your favorite Disney resort. (Hello, air conditioning!)

4. Tropical Vibes, All the Way:
Lean into the season with bright florals, citrus-inspired cocktails, and breezy dresses. Florida in summer may be steamy, but it’s also vibrantly beautiful.

Who Gets Married in the Florida Summer?

I’ve had the joy of officiating summer ceremonies for all kinds of couples: those eloping while on vacation, locals who love a good indoor venue, and Disney fans who couldn’t resist a mid-summer fairy tale. Some love the quiet, off-season feel. Others just wanted to get married now, no matter the weather.

And honestly? Their ceremonies were just as beautiful, just as emotional, and just as joyful as any spring or fall wedding.

Love Is Always in Season

If you’re planning a Florida summer wedding (or considering it) don’t let the heat scare you off. With the right timing (sunrise ceremony, anyone?), a little planning, and a vendor team who knows how to work with the weather, your big day can be cool, calm, and absolutely magical.

And if you need someone to help you bring it all together with a ceremony that feels like you? I’d be honored to help.

Because here in Florida, love doesn’t take a summer break.
